New name reflects enhanced focus on veteran families and those who support our veterans

Rockville, MD, November 10, 2015 – Blue Star Veterans Network today announced a new name, BlueStar HonorCare. Along with the name change, the company recently moved to a larger location, launched a new website, expanded its line of medical alert systems, and will be closing an investment round later this month to fund further growth.

BlueStar HonorCare helps older veterans and their families live safe and independent lives at home using technology, including medical alert systems, health monitoring devices, and personal safety devices. BlueStar integrates hardware, software, and a live monitoring/assistance team to help seniors age in place with dignity and comfort.

“We’re here to maximize the golden years of senior veterans and their families,” said Rear Admiral Robert O. Wray, Jr. (ret.), CEO of BlueStar HonorCare. “There are over ten million vets and spouses of vets over age 75—the fastest growing demographic in the country.”

Wray retired from the Navy in 2013 to start a company to benefit senior veterans like his own parents and in-laws, who are retired military couples in their 80’s. “We owe a debt of gratitude to all the families who have served our nation, and so are committed to making their retirement years as safe and healthy as possible.”

BlueStar is owned by veterans, serves veterans and employs veterans. Its advisory board includes 14 military flag officers from across the branches. In addition, the company donates a portion of profits to veteran causes.

BlueStar has recently signed teaming agreements with the American Legion in Florida and with the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC) to provide services to their members.

The company’s new headquarters in Rockville houses a team of over 20 employees. All customer contact and service take place on site. “Personal connections matter to us,” says Wray. “Our customers will speak directly with our employees. We don’t hire outside customer care or technical service. When you call BlueStar, you get BlueStar each and every time.”
